Product Description

A magnificent Christmas Seal collection, housed in 3 albums: a White Ace Christmas Seal album, a Denune Comprehensive Christmas Seal album with specialized pages, and a Denune album of progressive proofs and imperforates, plus a few more odds and ends.

There’s an impressive degree of completeness; the “basic” collection (White Ace album & pages) is complete to 2012 (~1,000 stamps) and then there’s a second collection to 1934 on very old…probably 1934…book pages.  The binder finishes with 37 covers/postcards, each with a seal (starting with 1908 x2, neither tied but appear genuine usages - the 1916 seal is the earliest “tied” example…)

The second album contains an apparently complete set of the desirable “specialized” Christmas seal pages and quite a few specialized seals, starting with the type I and type II 1907 issues (both stamps are pristine NH, the type I being the scarcer “thin paper” variety,) 1908 type I and II (both NH), 1911 (NH), etc.  Noted better varieties like 1917 on “kid” and “linen” papers, 1919 type 2 (r.9.5xp.12.5), numerous essays, perf types, paper types, Cambridge overprints, etc., etc.   Overall MUCH better condition than usually seen.  Just a scattering of hinged/minor faults noted, otherwise overwhelmingly SOUND and NEVER HINGED (very rare to find specialized Xmas seal collections this nice!)

The third album is an amazing, and apparently COMPLETE TO 1973, collection of progressive proofs from 1927, again on specialized pages.  Thousands of stamps, including singles, pairs, blocks, sometimes even full sheets of a given year.  An amazing and seldom seen assemblance of these scarce items!  Over 3,300 individual seal proofs in this album alone!! (…plus another collection of “imperforate” seals complete 1932-1966 plus more imperforates to 1986 (all collected as pairs or blocks, as they must.)

In short, this magnificent group of Christmas seal items is perfect for the specialist (or specialist-to-be.)  The next owner will probably “immediately” rank in the top 5% of all US Christmas seal collections…  Offered intact as purchased and easily one of the nicest Xmas seal groups I’ve ever handled.  A showpiece collection, certain to make other collectors very jealous!

Expertization/Extension Policy

Any uncertified (single) stamp that I sell may be placed on "extension" while a certificate of expertization is obtained. In addition, stamps with existing certificates issued prior to January 1, 2015 may be placed on extension for a new certificate. Individual stamps from a larger lot may not be placed on extension, unless prior approval has been obtained. The following procedure must be followed for all extensions:

  • All lots must be paid for in advance and the lot will ship once payment clears. Upon receipt, please examine the item. If you agree with my description but want a certificate, then...
  • You must notify me (preferably at time of purchase) that you are requesting a certificate and we must agree on a 3rd party service (APEX, PF, PSAG and PSE are acceptable) to do the certification. This notification must occur within 7 days of receipt but in no event later than 30 days from the purchase date. The item must be submitted within 7 days of receipt, but in no event later than 30 days from the sale.
  • You submit the item as the rightful owner and pay any certification and postage costs required at that time.
  • If the item comes back with an opinion stating "not genuine", with a different identification (different Scott number), or with faults not originally described, you may return the lot and I will reimburse your purchase price plus the cost of the certificate (up to 20% of the purchase price or $100, whichever is lower). The stamp must not be marked in any way, and must be returned in the original condition (not encapsulated). Express service premiums are not reimbursable. Certificate costs are not refundable if the service cannot render an opinion, or if a graded certificate disagrees with any statement regarding grade or estimated grade.
  • Upon receipt of the returned stamp and certificate, I will credit your account (as defined in (4) above) within 24 hours. You can leave the money on account to apply toward future purchases, or request a refund, in which case funds will be sent within 2 business days.
